It's about two boys, Tom Canty and Prince Edward, who are born on the same day and look exactly the same. Both boys long for the other's lifestyle. They meet, and, by mistake, actually do switch. Everyone in Tom's life treats the prince as they would Tom, and everyone in Edward's life treats Tom as they would the prince. After a taste of the other boy's life, both long to switch again and go on living their own life.
Overall, it's a good book. But sometimes I felt like it went on for too long or I just wanted to go into the book and tell the characters what to do.
