To all you men who aren’t on GR for books - GO AWAY. I will never respond to your pathetic messages and I’m sick of your presence on this site.

Hallelujah! I had to block someone the other day which is ridiculous considering what my bio says (it couldn’t be more clear). There is no reason for it with the plethora of dating sites out there. I’m sorry to all the men who actually are on GR for books cuz I, often than not, ignore their friend requests just to be safe.
Omg. Same! If they want to be in a dating site, they should stay away from Goodreads. It's annoying.
Agree. Blocking isn’t working today for one pest who somehow put HIMSELF on my friend list, I unfriend, block and he keeps reappearing. I’m so tired of fending these leeches off.
Very sorry to hear that you’re experiencing that. Totally unnecessary and ridiculous. I’ve gotten a bunch of those, too. The people are extremely nasty and pushy about it, even when I politely ask them to stop. I also get lots of people who friend me, only to ask me to invest in something they’re promoting, too. Hate to report people, but they don’t leave you any choice!
They don’t Peter - you’re quite right. I’ve reported it to GR and I know they are aware of the issues. I’m sorry you’ve had issues too.
I think they’re trying but these pests find tech savvy ways and means which GR has to combat. But yes, it’s an absolute pain.
Amen, preach! I have a question about books that new friends must answer and I limited my private messages to friends only. Although I have to ignore about 5 requests per day, I have stopped getting private messages thank goodness.
Got one today who somehow managed to get on my friends list which I HADN’T accepted. How???? My privacy is the same as yours but this one found a way through. 🤨😡
They never stop! I swear one appeared on my friends list that I never accepted either. And some that message first to let you know they’re creepy and THEN send a friend request…🤦♀️

My privacy is the same as yours but this one found a way through. 🤨😡"I had that glitch a couple of weeks ago. I sent through a help ticket and eventually they fixed it. It was a very frustrating week until they fixed it though. I basically just had to let them sit in my friend request box because even if I blocked them they still became friends with me.
They could be romance scammers. Beware! I've seen lots on the site lately especially. :[ It looks like they've discovered GR and are going strong on here. They follow a very predictable script. See the discussion on my recent status update for some details: https://www.goodreads.com/user_status...

When I get a friend request, I e-mail support directly and ask them to delete the request for me (and sometimes ask them to also block the person if it's a scammer). They do this quickly, so that's good, but it's awful that we have to take this extra step.
Ceecee wrote: "That’s very useful Caroline - thank you very much"You're welcome, Ceecee. I'm glad you made the status update.
I have reported a few of them to Goodreads and initially they removed their profiles but now Goodreads does not seem to be responding to my alerts about these losers probably because there are so many of them. Like you Ceecee, the only option is to ignore them.
