The action comes thick and fast, with pressure piled on Anna and Jay from a disapproving parents, Jay's own hopeless father throwing him out and the mean machinations of Rory, who'd love to have the rival who humiliated him in front of Anna put away.
Now comes a totally unexpected twist to the plot, which took me by surprise.

The writing continues to be terse, witty, and sensitive, full of vivid description. Here's a couple of my favourite quotes: -
'As Rory approached her, Tia's head shot up like a periscope. Her muscles tightened under her glistening coat, and her hooves danced on the spot.'
'The atmosphere downstairs was as icy as the freezer section at Waitrose'.
There's so many, with familiar actions brought to a new life.

The love of the teenage couple is very touching, and all the time, everyday reality closes in. Worst, I think, is that threatening message from someone who knew about Jay's crime, just now, when he's got a new career with horses in sight, besides his love with Anna...

Two teenagers from very different backgrounds are unhappy with their home life, and have oblivious parents.
As always with this writer, I love the dark humour and realistic descriptions in this unsentimental modern novel.
