Ugh, the writing is... not great, and I'm only in the prologue. Also, the narrating character in the prologue is an actual idiot. He claims: "You can do what you can to not end up being a random statistic. And the only way to do that is to be the man holding the gun." Except, uh. 'became a killer or joined a gang due to a crappy childhood' is very much a statistic.
