Ok, so Mary was 17 when she found her best friend's dead body. The guy who did it was the same age.
Mary's sister was 3 years younger. And we're supposed to believe that a 14 year old befriended this guy in junior high and 6 months after the murder started writing and visiting him in prison.
10+ years later, she still helps the guy. And their mom thinks it's ok. WTF?!!!
