This book is important for anyone who lives in NC to read. I've already learned so much. I had no idea that Wilmington was the most populous city in NC and was home to so many African Americans at the time.

I did know that NC has a incredibly racist and violent past. It is however, important to be reminded of this. The tactics used by white people in Eastern NC to terrify African Americans will make you shudder.
