The White Robin is cute so far. No complaints at all on this one. No mean-spirited gossips. (The Guardian describes Miss Read's books as having "a little harmless tittle-tattle". I counter that it IS harmful, and shameful, and hateful to be like that. For shame on all of those assholes, breeding discontent and slander! Church-going hypocrites! Ephesians 4:29 would be the focus of my sermon there, given the chance!)

There are only 505 pages. So this makes 3/4 done, or close enough as to make no difference. Alright, 74.2%. I can't be imprecise. XD

Urgh. 'Village Christmas' hateful and judgy, then mildly redemptive. 'The Fairacre Ghost' - seriously, how much tragedy IS there in any given village?! Are more than half the residents widowed in their youth or what?! DEPRESSING! Also, Job? C'mon - low hanging ironic fruit for that choice of name.

Would Hyacinth Bucket enjoy this book? Idk. I don't especially. Written prettily. Characters are deplorable and dull.

The Christmas Mouse at least has a bit of a plot.

It's like the inbetween scenes of Heartbeat, where nothing much is happening.

This is the second story of three so far where the plot is a child who questions the existence of Santa Claus. And another draughty house with water leaking under windowsills.

Umm. I remain unenchanted.
