The author seems to have deep biases on the type of reading that needs to be done in order to gain a higher level of understanding and learning. While I agree with the fact that not all readings require a deeper understanding or thinking, after reading various types of books for the past three years, I have come to realize that many books do require a deeper level of thinking by which it changes you.
