Started this little gem today. Crime mystery authors who only use initials are usually women, who correctly or incorrectly think that readers expect serious writers in this genre to be men. Here the author is actually a collaboration of two sisters from Detroit. The plot thickens, as Miami's only female homicide detective flashes back to recollections of her cop rookie job in a small town in Michigan.

Finished. Refreshing story, and it didn't bog down despite it's length.

This story moves along quite well for a 470 page crime fiction novel. I've recently been spoiled, reading a lot of "novellas" (short stories disguised as books). Some interesting plot twists, including a counterfeit lawyer (suspect's younger brother). Starting to worry about the physical safety of our puny protagonist, a pipsqueak neophyte cop.

The plot thickens. Our young female deputy sheriff from a small town is bound for stardom, she has great instincts and boundless energy. 3 victims now, and at least one solid suspect. Clues starting to tie things together, but the game is young.....
