Just finished the actual text of Virgil's work; I wanted to mark the time and date when I finished this monumental work.
I still have the Translator's Postscript to go through before officially finishing "the book", because often the essays surrounding work like this are just as enlightening as reading the text and becoming familiar with where many of our sayings come from.

Starting book 12 of 12, the goal is to finish by the end of next week.
The translation is very readable, very compelling, and it reads familiar to the contemporary eye.

Book Seven: Beachhead in Latium
This is endlessly fascinating, a work I've known about my entire literate life, but am only now getting around to reading it, at nearly 70 years old.
The Fagles translation is wonderful, everything I expected: clear & lucid, engaging and gripping - becoming familiar with something that's been on the periphery for a lifetime is actually fun.

Book Four
Eminently readable, very easy to follow and even enjoy. The map in the front is helpful, the introduction by B. Knox is informative. The overall presentation of the work is exceptional.
I started reading this translation because of prior success with The Iliad and The Odyssey in Fagles' translation.
