And then comes a totally astute letter on pgs. 276-77 that offers true insight on seeking perfection, change, and happiness.

Reading this book always makes me sorrowful; hence the long read time. One of the most delightful things I've discovered within it though is Howard's letter to Novalyne on pages 262-264. Yet now I think of it, these thoughtful and personable words come but a few short months from his end. Sadness strikes anew.

This is a very telling read, very personal, very intimate, rather sad to me.

Bob Howard: "A man will fight for his woman, and he'll fight for his food. In which order, I don't rightly know." Got a good laugh out of me.

I find this book quite fascinating. Can't say I've ever read anything akin to it. Even with authorial bias, this journalling real-life story sharing is so personally revealing about both characters.

A fun and revelatory set of pages, but come on, Bob! I just read of your feelings about coffee:
'a worthless concoction developed by some fool to try to keep its imbibers from facing life as it really was.' Funny, but what the hell dude?!

This is actually quite fascinating to read, the innermost feelings of a strong-willed woman alongside reminiscences of the strong-writer REH, as living legend and lively companion. A blend of sweet and sad, that famous melancholy and mirth.

Dang. Then the chuckles ended.

This 'sere and yellow leaf' bit gives a good chuckle.
