I read the first 3 Harry Potter books with my kids and then gave up as they were proficient readers by then and I lost interest. This story is good on its own merit. I saw A review by Grace and was intrigued. LOL, it is an alternative universe. I am in two minds about telling my kids (who are adults now).
I lost interest for many years, after I discovered old Harlequins and BR. Then I fallen down the Harry Potter fanfic rabbit hole again this year lol Better Off Forgotten was a good one.
So far I am impressed. Heaps better than those NA, etc.. books that are so popular now with the younger gen. There is character development, good sentence structure, paragraphs and story moves forward, (though I find sex a bit too explicit for my taste, lol.) It is a page turner. I want to know how it will resolved itself.
I was surprised to see you reading dramione fic too lol. Some of the fanfics are better written than published books. Manacled, Isolation, and Howl For Me are a few I want to try soon. It's crazy how well-written many of them are, and some are hundreds of thousands of words long. With NA & contemporary romance a 50K word count seems to be the norm now. *shakes head*

If you tell your kids you'll have to come back here and let us know their response :)

I just read this one not too long ago. I've been trying to convert Dramione fans into bodice rippers fans, no luck on that front.
