My first Dickens (after A Christmas Carol) and I’m not enjoying it that much.
I mean, why are there too many characters? Each chapter is like, “look, here you have a bunch of new characters if the previous ones weren’t enough for you”.
Confusing at this point, and I hope it gets better – I definitely hope so.

Yes! Girish, I feel as though I’d been reading this book for years, and not just one single month. 😞
I have never read Dickens. But I ordered earlier this week this one and Bleak House. I sincerely hope my experience will be different. 🙈
Oh, this is my first Dickens as well, and believe me, it’s not a good option. Maybe I should’ve started reading David Copperfield, Oliver Twist or Great Expectations, I don’t know, but this one is definitely not what it was supposed to be.
I hope your experience will be different, though, as you say. You’ll tell me how it goes. ☺️
I love Dickens, and read four of his titles this month. Great Expectations really is the best place to start. Please don’t give up Dickens. Take another crack at him when you are ready.
Thanks Kenny! I’m going to take your recommendation and my next attempt will be Great Expectations. Unfortunately now this is a completely disappointment, and it’s a shame since I truly enjoy reading authors from the Victorian age. 🤷♂️
