Making my way slowly, but so far this is genius intersection material of mathematics, physics and music.
I love this brave statement at the end of Chapter 2:
"It is necessary to see music over a broad range of time scales, from the infinitesimal to the supra scale (Christensen 1996). Not all musicians are prepared
to view musical time from such a comprehensive perspective, however, and
it may well take decades."

Some of this goes way too deep for me, but I like that even in the deeply mathy parts, there is an Assessment of what this means in terms of science or musicality or both. This was in one such section:
