This should not be titled “How Canada fought the American Civil War.” Many Canadians did fight in the war but most participants were Americans, a handful of whom were physically in Canada on occasion. This clever invention of history is overstating its case.

No wonder that none of this was in my American History textbooks in school. A US Sec of State threatening to invade Canada and go to war with the UK in 1861 makes the Civil War era even more complicated and off-script.
