Just read a chapter about a witch who wasn't wearing underpants.
For no reason.
And it was never addressed.

The discernable plot pattern of the main character repeatedly getting into trouble. getting saved, then talking politics is now over and the story is finally tying together. I'm not going to lie, it's becoming a sluggish read, but there's enough here to keep me coming back. I'm still undecided if I want to read the second book in this trilogy, but I'll make that decision once the book is read.

I didn't manage to read at all on New Years Day. Even though I didn't drink the night before, I managed to stay up until 2 am. We watched Forest Gump; timed it just right so for midnight Forest Gump says "Happy New year Lieutenant Dan". It was incredible.
Anyway, I'm enjoying this book, but I'm reading sooo slooow.
Happy new year, everyone.

So far, a dense, challenging read for a dense reader. A historical fiction, set in a time I know nothing about, and a place I barely know a thing about, thus remarkably holding up a mirror to my own ignorance.
Amongst the quarrels of religion and its supposed heretics, there's a discernable thread of storyline that I'm holding onto, and hoping the names, places, and historical events sink in as I read on.
