In the chapter titled a brief history of whiteness: The author discusses the different racial taxonomies that exist in the United States. He asks the question, “is there a biological basis for this kind of taxonomy? No. In fact there is 8.6 times as much genetic variation within traditionally defined racial groups than between them.”
