If I have to listen to one more multi-page monologue about how much this girl wants to be like her grandfather I’m going to absolutely die. In a novel where the antagonist is an ambiguous woodland horror that dissolves the bodies of its victims, you don’t want the most unsettling thing in the text to be the way the main characters fetishizes their Papaw.
