A very very drunk orthodox dude yelling “I challenge you all now, all you atheists!!!” is pretty funny. Interesting how Dostoevsky plays w/ genre: “Crime & Punishment” uses the crime serial (obviously), and this uses the romance novel. I’m surprised at how much the second half is leaning into the yearnings of its characters.
