Drug courier-turned dealer Cyril Smrekar (introduced in 2014's The Carrier) returns in Load, Preston Lang's unrelenting tale of wanna-be heroin peddlers on the run. Along for the ride is Ana Luz, a war vet bent on protecting Cyril and their stolen stash of smack. I would've read this in one sitting if I had the free time, and I found it hard to put down. It's engrossing, thrilling, and often funny. What a ride. Five stars.
