Yes, read it. I always forget to read the description before I start a book so I didn't realize this was historical fiction until the authors note. I enjoy reading the other-side of history. What would you do if you were a german girl? How do people get involved with terror? Who do you trust? Who's the real hero? It's an interesting thought. This was a good chunk of the book, critical thinking. There was one a historical figure mentioned that did not meet the same reality (if you're going to add the person that make it factual). Over all it's worth reading.
