I've held off on reading Julie Klassen for years now, and I'm beginning to see why. The story has potential, but the writing isn't of the quality I'd expected. Hopefully it'll get better...

If this one doesn't improve, I may still give her another try. I've heard great things about The Painter's Daughter!
I haven't liked her style in any of the books I've tried... I think I've started three and have yet to finish one.

Yes it is; I've yet to be hooked or emotionally engaged with any of her characters. She has a lot of fans, so it must just be that I can't connect with her style.

I wonder if old me would have liked it and I've gotten too picky the more I read and write. It really is inconvenient sometimes.
