⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tangleroot Palace
Another dark, brooding forest full of mystery, a royal wedding, and a daring escape...
What a finale! This one was more lighthearted, and made me laugh several times. It still has intensity and vivid imagery, and a satisfying ending. I really like how it intertwines with the other stories. The forest that grew from blood and bones, the terrifying spirit of the wood. Good stuff!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ After the Blood
What’s left is a fractured government, farming communities led by the Amish, abandoned cities overgrown by forests—and the rise of supernatural forces no longer contained by civilization...
Fascinating and I want more. A little vague, but appealing. It has references to sexual assault, so I'm intensely glad it didn't get detailed.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Where the Heart Lives
A simple fairytale premise with a gothic vibe and a Dark Wood.
I was already sold due to the above, but then the author elevates this story with themes of family, love and friendship, finding the place and people that mean HOME... And that ending...
One of my favorite pieces. 🥀🖤

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Last Dignity of Man
“Put on the cape,” Alexander says. “Do it slow.”
A fresh twist on the superhero / supervillain dynamic, a billionaire desperately lonely...
I was completely blown away, this story captivated me almost immediately. There wasn't a single misstep. Phenomenal!

⭐⭐ The Light and the Fury
An intriguing alternate history: a world where China settled the Pacific Coast long before Columbus found these shores; where machines were powered by crystals, where these same crystals could alter human bodies and give them powers...
I adored the premise and world, I quite liked the characters, the only thing I didn't like was the actual slice of story we got. Weird, huh?

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Briar and Rose
An imaginative reinvention of the Sleeping Beauty tale.
I really liked the characters, and the twist. The ending was nice, if a little too easy.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sympathy for the Bones
A teenager who kills with handmade dolls...
Supremely dark and grim, yet haunting and appealing, too.
