Ugh! Ethically you’re not supposed to befriend someone you’ve counseled in a professional capacity, regardless if you did or didn’t have full certification at the time. Interns are still held to professional standards. I always struggle with how counseling is depicted in books, because it is literally my job and I can’t suspend disbelief.
