Calling the parkway through Pigeon Forge a “neon smear” is the most accurate description I’ve read of anything. Conversely, saying that you have to hike Cades Cove to see its churches, when you can literally park in front of them and walk into them, seems to miss the mark.

So far this book feels like a blend of park biography, drawn out Yelp review, and Buzzfeed commentary on conservative culture.
