On one page men talk about being civilized and on the next one they are cutting boy's tongue out for learning how to read. I feel like throwing this book across the room :/

More of the same. Though for the life of me I cannot understand why Men are so carelessly wasting bright minds. Oh... right... they can't make a step to the left or a step to the right without Mother's permission. That's why. Years are spent on cadets, but boys are ..."protected"? O.o

Vivian How's book 2 going?

M'rella It's pretty much the same stuff.
Tarin remembers things he isn't supposed to.
This community is so lucky to have these bright boys, yet all men do is putting them down instead of giving them an opportunity to shine and contribute and substitute a cadet here and there. Such a waste.
I hate "mothers" more and more with each new paragraph.

Vivian Yep. Kinda how I read it. Sorry.

M'rella Lilia Ford loves it. She had high hopes for me and I disappointed her. I think this book gives her plot bunnies :) Me? I get nothing, but strong urges to strangle a mother or two.

Vivian Lol.

M'rella But I am serious about Lilia. I feel like I failed her somehow :(

To me this book is yet another setting in which SMG explores her old favorite d/s man/boy pairing.

Deeper exploration of this universe doesn't interest her, it's not her goal, she is concentrating purely on the d/s relationship. That's her focus. Like in so many of her other books.

Maybe that's why I feel bored? O.o

Kynthos-the-Archer (Kyn) Oddly, I didn't feel that much on the D/S part. Yes it was total powerplay but I am mostly in awe with the settings - their unique community setup and the mysterious mothers are a box of wonders to me. That's what captured my attention most besides the interesting characters. Characters that aren't exactly a good or a bad person makes em real.

I would appreciate if there are more of such daringly unconventional books of the M/M genre out there. It's a breath of fresh air.

M'rella This community doesn't evolve. Mothers don't let it. It's unnatural. Maybe that too is driving me nuts.

There are kids who can do better than being fuck toys, but - no. Let's waist human resources and, worse, lives and occasionally admit that yes, indeed, we fucked up yet another boy, but - poo! - nothing can be done now. Too bad.

If something gives by the end of the book, I might change my opinion, but right now it's just a frustrating read to me.

I do appreciate a good D/S, but I need to understand how and why. There is neither here. I know why Twice-Caught (seriously, the boy has a name!) decided to stay with Beak-face (sexy!), but initially - WHY???
Why this set up? How did this come to be? I don't see another answer but: it was convenient for the author, duh!

Vivian Different books do different things for people and logic isn't necessarily involved. I had issues with this story, both to be honest, but I kind of hoped that the second one would answer questions as to the reason behind what is happening (mothers), but it never does. Pissed me off.

Kynthos-the-Archer (Kyn) I ditto Vivian on different books do different things for people. To me book 2 has answered what is to be answered. Spelling it out too much would be moot and wash out the effect. Maybe it's because I love to speculate. And at times I don't even mind books that left the ending open.

M'rella I don't enjoy it when authors explain everything for me, but this... this book just grates on my nerves like very few do.

I just posted update on what they think being "civilized" mean. Like removing boy's body parts...

So far I understand that mothers are controlling bitches that are good for environment, but not so good for your average folk.

NO farming they say. Why? There is this magic word "Monsanto" .. yep. Cause a bunch of crude boys (is that why they don't want to educate them, because boys seem to be much brighter in this book than men?) can surely start producing GMO for quicker/better farming while they barely have any electricity in their housing. WTF?

It just makes no sense to me. None.

Explaining some or all at the end of the series is a good way to lose a bunch of your readers. IMHO.

Did I say I hate using iPad for typing? I think I did :( I have to edit one paragraph like 50 times.
