This book is slow going, which isn't to say it's bad or I'm not enjoying it. It is very long. The prose is well done and beautiful in places (although possibly not as consistently as in her other novels), so you don't want to rush it. It's also incredibly detailed. I will finish it because I love Tokarczuk, but the focus on endless minutiae and the fact that not a single character in the entire vast cast she employs is even slightly likeable, are making this more work than I expected. It is interesting and well-written, an amazing feat overall, but so far my least favourite Tokarczuk book.
