With Cyprus showing how abandoned strips of land in between occupied spaces recovers to blossom in into nature zones. At first, chapter 1 felt rather passive with nature descriptions I didn’t fully follow, but it ended up being an insightful account of how brownfield sites and places left behind get reclaimed by nature. Comparisons of similar places added to the point Flyn was making, that nature reinvents itself (not regenerates), and that we should appreciate this form of natural art and beauty rather than force it.
