Although this is a readable reference book, I have jumped to sections that I wanted to learn for writing purposes. This text easy to reference with rhetorical and grammatical texts from the English period between the 15th and 19th centuries. More specialized rhetorical texts and classical texts also cross reference this text such as Lanham's Handlist and Aristotle's Treatise on Rhetoric.

Illuminating text describing how Tudor English writers were schooled and developed their craft. This is the full deal, no half-measures or corners cut. This book doesn't tell me how a fine automobile is built; it tells me how to build a fine automobile. A very engaging read!
