Absolutely, Bash! That's why Ulysses needs to be read more than once. The first reading is the most difficult.

Yes, the text is extremely "dense" and oversaturated with the refrences, allusions and hints of different kinds. Sometimes the length of the commentaries and explanations (without which reading makes no sense) exceed the length of of some parts. Besides, it is not easy to read it in English for me (but, I'm afraid, certain things are lost in translation, especially, when the author likes playing with words so much). And, nevertheless, in spite of the fact that the process is difficult, I had prepared myself in different ways before starting it. I hope I will finish it and the year of 2022 will become the year of Ulysses for me.

I see what you mean. I am just scratching the surface and I don't overestimate myself. I don't have any high expectations. And, still, I find certain parts of the text truly mesmerising.
