Chapter three update:
Deb is so cool. She’s aware that her dad sees her as his meal ticket, even then she clings to him as her only real confidant. And even when he yells at her and tells her that she needs to bow down to the authority of a husband she still leaps into action to save his life.
By sliding down a banister no less, she’s pretty tough for a proper lady I’ll say

Toms POV this chapter. He’s aware that his revenge comes from a complicated source. His care for Asa and the grief over his passing is his motivation for wanting to kill Arthur Sinclair. He isn’t entirely heartless but he is focused.
He doesn’t come across as terribly as I thought he would, I’m hoping for good things from him and Deb’s interactions.

So far I’m really drawn in by the historical setting. I’m a sucker for early 19th c. Settings and so far Deborah has been a pretty interesting protagonist. Despite her privileged upbringing she’s disgusted by her dads conspicuous consumption and luxury. I hope that when she meets Tom they’ll have good banter.
