Hard to believe I've been on GR for 12 years! Grateful to those of you whose great reviews encouraged me to read broadly, and whose comments on my reviews motivated to keep on writing! A note I'd like to make is that I, as everyone else, was a different person a decade ago, and my thoughts and opinions about my reads, and how I express myself, have also changed. Be kind to those who share their thoughts on here:)

Also, I don't have such an incredible memory that I remember a sentence I read in a book 5 years ago well enough to argue with a reader about it. I'm deleting all rude and argumentative comments from now on:)

Glad to see you back, Rowena! I'm sorry you're getting those comments. I recommend closing off your comments section to friends only. Doing that gave me great peace of mind. Before that, I was deleting the nasty comments, but I would have preferred to not see them to begin with. :/ I look forward to talking books with you once again!

That's actually a great idea, I'd never even thought of that. Thanks! I spent some time deleting rude, entitled messages under some of my really old reviews yesterday and the aggressiveness really astounded me. Goodreads has always been my happy place:)

Welcome back Rowena!Looking back at my old ratings and reviews I've realized the same thing. We are ever-changing and learning. We read for that very purpose! So that we never remain static! If there's one thing I have to remind myself constantly it's that I need to also be kind to myself as well rather than rag on who I used to be.
