i like the anecdote-based storytelling. i feel aggrieved but also less alone, being able to relate to so many women and girls' stories of insecurities, feeling of "being watched" by an internalized male gaze, and the internal struggle of wanting to be beautiful but also wanting to be liberated of the pressure to be beautiful. but i struggle for a women's liberation even beyond the "equal opportunity" engeln imagines
