one definitely finds a common thread when sampling this diverse (yes!) collection of beat poets. I have always loved the beats. Took a long time to savor this collection but got a jolt of energy after reading Allen Ginsberg’s classroom lectures on the art and craft of the Beats. His clarity cut through the hype and gave these poems a respectable setting - their aim was pure and these (often filthy) poems do shine.
