STORY ARCHETYPES:I would say Waste of space is a Voyage. This book is a voyage because lot's of family's go to a weird and crazy space station with lot's of action. This one family in particular is learning a lot in the two to three years that their staying in this space station. They will all go back in knowledge of everything they've learned while there. One of the family's is experiencing threat to food poisoning.

SUPPORTING CHARACTERS: Minor characters in Waste of space are Violet, Dash's sister, Lars Sjoberg another person, part of a family who is also on the moon, Dash's mom, Dash's dad, Nina, the moonie who is in charge of the space station, Chang Kowalski, the geochemist on the space base, Sonja, also another person in charge of the space station, Patton and Lilly Sjoberg one of the first families who paid to in space.
