I've never had to fight so much in my life to stop myself from putting down a book, then from picking it up again. Effortlessly put me inside the head of Eva Katchadorian, a place I really didn't want to be. Franklin Plaskett, Eva's husband and Kevin's forever spoiling, excusing, placating father, made me more angry than the titular murderer, but I couldn't help but feel for him by the end.

I keep wanting to put this book down, but I keep failing to. Not only because it's harrowing - and holy fuck, it's HARROWING - but also because it's making me angry. More specifically, Franklin is making me angry. I just want to smack him across his wilfully blind, macho, gas-lighting face.
