Long, smart ruminations on the fairness of the judicial system and and admission by the protagonist Casi of his latent altruism and equanimity makes his obnoxious libertarian colleague apoplectic.

I keep wanting to give up on this book because it's big and sprawling but right when I'm about to he reels me in with something. From this guys pop culture references and his knowledge of the welterweight/battles of the 1980s (Duran, Hearn, Ray-Leonard, Benitez), I can conclude were about the same age, only this cat's Columbian and writes like a bull. Very derivative of DFW. I'll throw in the towel when I've had enuf
