Great, great book.
This section really discusses the Sandhills (sand hills), Drowning Creek, Little River, and land grants/migration.

The Exile Theory. No direct connection that Scots emigrated to NC as settlers after Culloden. Rather, they came as indentured servants. No record of any significant land grants, etc. are recorded to show Scots settlements. A survey suggests no increase immediately after the rebellion of 1745. Records show they would rather be exiled than put to death, or exiled rather than subjugated in their own country.
