This book alternates between beautifully written passages to boring but all the time centers on violence towards women. The three characters stories are woven together but I've nearly forgotten the woman from the French court....

I'm half way through and still not sure about finishing. The physical violence, emotional abuse, and lack of a redeeming/redeemable character leaves me thinking I might shelve this book.
