What I really love about Lily Mayne’s monster books is this underlying message to look closer. Look closer at the outcasts, those who are different. Look closer at the ones who are prickly and who reject us or are rejected. Because there might be a reason why they are a “monster.” Maybe they’re just a “beastie” who needs love too.
