VERY complicated feelings i read a chapter i absolutely hated then some other chapters I think are cool. I’m confused as to why Maggie isn’t implicating herself as an “academic pornographer” to totally borrow a phrase but what I mean is, she’s presenting graphic accounts of cruelty herself but when’s she gonna talk abt her own role?? Hello??

I’m convinced Maggie Nelson didn’t have an editor for this book. I’ve already found two typos and a bunch of unintelligible sentences with like 15 excess words. Also how did she see fit to talk about capital punishment and the spectacle/hiding of it without once mentioning Foucault? Not even including him in her bibliography? Who published this Wtf
