Finally through the very lengthy and spoiler-ific introductory materials and getting ready to make my way through the main text of Virgil's epic.

Unfortunately Aeneid devolves into lengthy descriptions of gory battles in the second half. It’s a real shame as the first half is so good.

Through Book 4

Finished the (lengthy) introductory materials. Will start the main text tonight. I'm only familiar with the Aeneid through the condensed telling of it in Edith Hamilton's 'Mythology' so diving into this one will be a real treat.
