am i missing some essential gene that is supposed to make me instantly adore this book??

she's looking like a 3 star read, which disappoints me because I've seen SO MANY books people rave about how much they loved this book.

I realize that by reading a translated version I am at a disadvantage cus i cant appreciate the writing in its original text- but I think this book just isn't my cup of tea (or coffee)
