Great is the fall of Gondolin!

Listening to the Andy Serkis audiobook for the first time. His voice is *so* rich and sexy, omg.

Thingol and Maedhros are my two problematic faves.

I'm about to go on an 11-hour drive, so I'll be starting my Silmarillion re-read even earlier this time around!

Tall ships and tall kings
Three times three,
What brought they from the foundered land
Over the flowing sea?
Seven stars and seven stones
And one white tree.

My two fave (non-Galadriel) Elves are Maedhros and Thingol, who are both intensely problematic lol.

Then Gothmog hewed him with his black axe, and a white flame sprang up from the helm of Fingon as it was cloven. Thus fell the High King of the Noldor.'

Fingon really is one of the most underrated characters.
