I'm reminded at this point in the story why Matthew is a super creepy dude. He comes off as really charming, but all the secrets? The control-freakiness? I get that this is part of the whole vampire deal, but although I love the story, this bit irks me a little.

I still maintain that this book is sort of like a "highbrow" Twilight for adults (horseback riding vampires, a focus on wine and academia)but I still freaking love it.

Re-reading this one in preparation for picking up the newest volume, The Book of Life! I loved the first book, I'm excited to revisit it. And yes, I have a few too many books going right now.
