Hi, all! Soo... after years of struggling to make my GR feed less of a chaotic, unintelligible mess, I came to the conclusion that the one thing left to do is to cull my friend list down to the folks I actually do interact with. I tried using the "top friends" feature but tbh I see no point in it? So, yeah, I'll be downsizing my friend list: no hard feelings, it's definitely a "it's not you, it's me" situation!

My solution is to not use the feed... at all. Literally. If someone 'likes' a review, I track back to their home page and see what they are up to--this facilitates actual interaction. And then I get the digest emails daily of some people who I like (who I have strategically moved to 'top friends') but aren't active like that. It's imperfect, but for me, it's better than that stupid, facebook knock-off feed.
The feed is not functional and never has been. I use notifications mostly and then buddy read interactions.

@Carol & Mayim: what drives me up the wall is that despite GR purporting its being a community and a social website, all the socializing actually has to happen behind the scenes, in groups or private messages, for it to work at all. I love the "idea" of the feed - of a feed that actually works as it's supposed to, I mean - because getting status updates & reviews from friends all in one place versus happening upon them at random is great, but... yeah, it's never going to happen, is it? 😂 Although The Culling (and some further adjusting to the "top friends" feature) seems to have worked? CAROL I SEE YOU!!! 😁

You are spot on about the 'behind-the-scenes' communication, though. Probably 85% of the reason many of us are in groups :)
