What a gem of a book, I have stumbled across it by accident. Wonderful and it cost just £5 or so on audio download. Fabulous narration. Very gritty but wonderfully romantic.

The synopsis of this wonderful book in no way prepares the reader for the darkness and real trauma of the life, Kate in particular and her little brother Andrew are living in the pits of Edinburgh. Richard the wealthy, well connected, medical student is like a flower on a dung heap, offering a way out of this dreadful existence.
