The main character is really annoying. He basically created a huge problem, got scared and ran away from his responsibility. The monster's mindset is childish bit understandable, since he's technically three to four years old. However his atrocities aren't just justifiable. He's selfish, immature and acts like a kid wanting the parents attention.
I really like the writing style, though.
