Brisbois is the only character who interests me. Why does he serve his demented half-brother? How can he justify what he’s done at Hugh’s behest if he disagrees with it? What’s his ultimate goal? Poor guy. He’ll probably end up dead because he’s not one of the heroes in the other books. 🙄

Why am I still reading this soporific blandfest? It’s like reading a textbook about how it feels to watch paint dry. I get more emotionally invested with SportsCenter, ffs.

See, this is why I usually dislike the fated-to-mate/reincarnated/avatars-of-dead-beings romances—lazy writing. Since they’re fated mates (or whatever this paranormal stuff is) we don’t have to see them falling in love, let alone any legit tension or personality from the MCs. 🙄 I’d not have bothered if I’d known this was the love-fulcrum.
