I just finished chapter 6 last night. Oh how I love the way the author has narrated and explained how the May 13 riots unfolded and the permanent repercussion from that event that has changed the whole fate, landscape, future of Malaysia.
I’ve never seen the day that led to the May 13 riots, never experienced it first hand, but yes, I am totally aware of its impact post May 13 up to today.

The following sentence by the author let me burst out laughing!
“This statement came to haunt me after a couple of years, when Dr.M became authoritarian…..”

I let out a snicker when I read this sentence..
“The Press seemed to be bolder in the first few months of his administration, and it was refreshing to note greater freedom all around (I was thinking…Yah right!). In my first editorial on his government, published in the Dec 1981 issue of Insaf, I wrote: “We sense and feel a liberal wind in the air, which we welcome and hope will continue to blow permanently.”
